ABOUT CITY GIRL FARMS
The City Girl Farm studio sculpts natural materials – fiber, wood and bronze – to bring delight into the world. ‘Chicken Footstools’ are created by our community of artisans in Kansas City, Missouri, using traditional art processes. The idea for Chicken Footstools was inspired by memories of childhood pet chickens. Each chicken is one-of-a-kind, built and upholstered by hand, unique in posture and personality. They are created to function as footstool.
Our work is largely about treasuring who we are as people—our memories, our senses, and our relationships with one another and the world in which we live. We hope these chickens bring joy into the hearts of all who see them and a lasting inspiration to the spaces in which they reside.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Bridges and Little Oz are Chicken Footstools whose feather designs are inspired by the beauty of the ever-changing landscape of Arkansas. They celebrate our collective experience of exploring hills, rocks, rivers, trails and vast views of colorful treetops. The chickens are made with turned wood egg-shaped cores, cast bronze feet and beaks, and felted Merino sheep’s wool.
